Data elevated: Partnership with MIT pushes data forward

More than 140 years ago, the U.S. Census began using punch cards to analyze data more effectively than by hand. Today, industries all over the world are using machine intelligence and are focused on machine consciousness in the near future.

The demand for data is more prevalent than ever. Everyone has had to adapt to new technology, implement new processes, programs, and platforms.

Organizations need data in the right place at the right time. And consumers now expect that. As more consumers start to focus on data, it is critical that we as organizations get this right.

Who are your customers? What are your customers buying? How do you better serve them? These are all questions that businesses are being forced to ask themselves in order to stay relevant in their markets.

How do you do that without data? How do you keep up with something that is changing so quickly?

A mission to answer these questions

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) set to find out by developing the MIT Chief Data Officer and Information Quality Symposium (MITCDOIQ) fourteen years ago.

For the last six years, Fusion has partnered with them to bring data leaders together to exchange cutting-edge ideas and advance the knowledge on the impact of data and how it is used in organizations today.

There is nothing like this out there. The MITCDOIQ symposium offers an opportunity to collaborate and learn with people that love the power of data just as much as you do.

An opportunity to learn from the successes and failures of other executives and other organizations, to learn from people that have been there before and know what works and what doesn’t, and ultimately, to collectively make the data world more viable as a true business entity.

How we track, store, and use data is rapidly evolving — so we have to evolve too. For the first time ever, this year’s symposium was held virtually, allowing more people from different geographies and circumstances to join and learn together.

The impact on the data community is huge. This year’s event brought 1,000 data leaders across all industries and the world together in one virtual location. These leaders were able to take the information shared back to change how they deal with data in their organizations.

But the impact doesn’t just stop with a once-a-year event. We have partnered with MIT to create CDO Roundtables at the local level, so the conversation never stops. The topics and collaboration shared at the MIT symposium will be continued at these local roundtables.

Takeaways

There are companies out there that aren’t tracking their analytics, there are companies using bad data to make big decisions, there are companies that have the right data but don’t know how to use it. Things are rapidly changing, and for the first time in history, data is able to provide you with the answers to the big questions your organization is asking.

Data is a driving force to digital transformation that you can’t ignore. The right data leads to the right strategy and is integral to the success of your business.

You can be the catalyst to elevate data within your organization. Reach out to learn more about joining one of our local roundtables.
